What I See Through the Lens
There is beauty all around us in every moment, we just need to see it in the right light to appreciate it.
Living in the digital age has its consequences for everyone, and one thing I see too often in many people is that they’re convinced they cannot look good in photographs.
“I’m just not photogenic!”
It’s why many of us choose to pick up the camera instead, be the one taking the photos instead of being in them. We’re all guilty of it, but hey, you have to start somewhere, right?
One of the biggest reasons I continue to do portrait photography is to show people that they are beautiful and wonderful, and wholly themselves. I want to make people feel celebrated. Bringing a subject into the right environments can do so much for someone’s self-image, and I love to photograph people in ways that uplift them. I aim to be the kind of photographer where my clients can come into a session hesitant but leave feeling excited about what we made, and proud of who they are.
Being able to create images that bring people joy, or to share stories and unspoken battles is what makes photography such a beautiful medium in my eyes. My work often focuses on using light to tell a story, subtly or not, and I welcome the ‘weird’ in what I do. I like to get outside the box and focus on the things others may gloss over, and it’s a part of my work that I’m quite proud of.
Photography is an art that can take us anywhere, let us do anything, why wouldn’t we use it to love the world around us?
